Just Run - A flash fiction

Updated: Oct 21, 2023

It took me all of three earth seconds to realize that I was dead. Floating around as a ghost was a disorienting experience. Without any of my senses, I had to use my spirit to perceive instead. Almost like forcing myself to wake up past a fog. When the world came into focus, the first thing I saw was my own dead body. The second THING was the monster who killed me. A hulking, writhing, mass of hatred, and tentacles. Its one giant yellow eye snapped over and looked at me. Not the 'dead me' on the ground; Current me. I didn't wait to see if it could hurt me. I just ran.
