Unfettered - A Flash Fiction

Prisoner #324 looked out over the cliff to the vast forest below. It was cradled by mountains that stretched past the sunset itself. Her timeworn shackles clinked. She took one last look at them, then leaped over the edge. The wind cradled her in a joyful howl. Her shackles disintegrated as she sped to the ground. Just before impact, the bindings around her wings snapped and for the first time in fifteen years, she flew. There was only one destination on her mind. Beyond the mountains.
